In Iranian belief, Par-Siyavashan (the "Blood of Siavash") is said to have grown from the blood of Siavash, the innocent Iranian prince and symbol of purity. In Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, when Siavash was beheaded, a drop of his blood fell to the earth. From that pure blood, this plant was born.
